Websites for financial advisors

Compliance-aware websites for Ocala and Villages-area advisors — credibility, clarity, and content that survives review.

What triggers the call

Retirement or a life event. Trust-led, and heavily referral-driven.

The job

What the site actually has to do

Financial advice is bought on trust, mostly through referral, usually at a life event — retirement, an inheritance, a sale. And it is bound by advertising rules that most web agencies have never encountered: what may be said about performance, how testimonials and endorsements must be handled and disclosed, and a recordkeeping obligation covering the marketing material itself. In this region there is the additional fact that a large part of the addressable market is retirees.

The advertising rules constrain the site, and your compliance officer decides

Depending on how you are registered, your marketing is governed by SEC or FINRA rules covering performance claims, testimonials and endorsements, required disclosures, and retention of what you publish. We build to what your compliance officer approves and we will flag anything that looks like it needs review. We are not your compliance function and any agency presenting itself as one should worry you.

Archiving applies to the website, not just to emails

Recordkeeping obligations can extend to marketing communications including website content and changes to it. That is a practical requirement with real implications for how a site is maintained and versioned, and it is one almost no agency raises before it becomes a problem during an examination.

The referral is followed by a search for your name

Most inquiries here start as a recommendation. What follows is a verification search — your name, your firm, your credentials. That result is where the referral is confirmed or quietly lost, and it makes ranking for your own name and having a credible, current site more valuable than ranking for competitive category terms.

Retirees are the market here, so build for them

In this part of Florida, a large share of the addressable audience is over sixty-five. Type size, contrast, plain language and short forms are conversion factors. So is not being condescending, which is the more common failure — this audience has managed money for forty years.

Checklist

What we build for this trade

Written to be checked against a finished site rather than admired in a proposal.

  • Disclosures and disclaimers in the form your compliance officer approves
  • Credentials, registrations and how to verify them
  • Fee structure explained as far as your compliance position permits
  • A content workflow that supports whatever review and retention you are obliged to keep
  • WCAG AA, with a genuinely readable experience for an older audience
  • Content organized by life event — retirement, inheritance, business sale — rather than by product
  • Contact route that suits someone who wants a conversation, not a funnel
  • Performance figures or testimonials that have not been through your compliance review
  • Urgency and scarcity tactics, which are both inappropriate here and a regulatory risk
  • Publishing or editing site content in a way that leaves no record, where retention obligations apply

Straight answers

Questions this trade actually asks

Can I use testimonials on my website?
The rules on testimonials and endorsements changed in recent years and what is permitted depends on how you are registered and what disclosures accompany them. That determination is your compliance officer's, not ours. We will implement whatever they approve, with the required disclosures, and we will not publish anything they have not cleared.
Does the archiving requirement really cover my website?
Recordkeeping obligations can extend to marketing communications, and website content can fall within that. It is worth confirming the specifics with your compliance officer — and worth doing before the site is built, because it affects how content is published and versioned.
Is SEO worth it when my business is referral-driven?
The highest-value search you have is your own name, because that is the verification search after a referral. Beyond that, life-event content — retirement, inheritance, selling a business — reaches people at the moment they start looking, and it is a slower but genuine channel.
What does building for an older audience actually involve?
Larger text, stronger contrast, short forms, plain language, and a phone number that is easy to find. What it does not involve is talking down — this audience has decades of financial experience and reacts badly to being simplified at.
Will you handle my compliance?
No. We build to your compliance officer's position, we raise anything that looks like it needs their attention, and we implement disclosures properly. Any agency that tells you it will handle your compliance is taking a risk with your registration rather than its own.
